Lunatic Fringe
"I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them upon geographical descriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you, in the most solemn manner, against the baneful effects of the spirit of party generally." -President Washington's Farewell Address, (paragraph 19, line 2).
This piece is titled Lunatic Fringe.
I created this piece using clay earth plaster, very fine grit marble sand, and earth oxide colorant, on 1/2 primed plasterboard. The party animal mascots, originally portrayed by Thomas Nast as an insult, are made using rough grit marble sand. The piece is about 1' H X 1.6' L.
See how they play?
